WALDO will be hosting an “Open Access Forum” at Simmons College in Boston, MA on Thursday, October 20, 2016. Come and hear what the publishers are doing with Open Access and their future plans. Lined up for the forum so far are Taylor & Francis, SAGE Publishing, Springer, JSTOR, 1Science, Reveal Digital and ACLS.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions during the afternoon panel discussion. If you have specific questions that you would like the publishers to address during the forum, please let us know and we will forward these to the publishers so they can be sure to include this information in their presentations. EBSCO has contributed funding to a new open source library services platform aimed at academic libraries, with early versions expected to be ready by 2018.
The initiative builds on the enthusiasm of academic and research libraries for open source software and will enable libraries to choose patron-facing discovery services independent from resource management, contrary to the current trend toward bundling them together.
